Patricia A. Sours, CPA, CFF is the co-founder and Vice President of Business Improvement Group. She has more than 20 years of experience and a diverse background that includes a unique and valuable blend of financial, accounting, and operational expertise.
In the turnaround management area, Sours has a vast amount of experience in cash flow management and improvement, recapitalization of businesses, banking relations, right sizing organizations, and forensic accounting. Her areas of expertise include performing financial analysis to unveil the root cause of operational inefficiencies, forecasting, and cash flow projecting. In addition, her exceptional accounting skills have allowed her to rebuild accounting systems that are in complete disarray, turning them into efficient, accurate, and valuable systems that professionals can rely upon.
Sours has a proven track record with a wide variety of ERP software packages. She has performed GAP analyses to improve the efficiency and functionality of various systems, and has developed reporting that both streamlines and accelerates the financial closing process, as well as providing operations with key management reporting. Sours also develops strategic business plans and then utilizes process re-engineering to ensure successful implementation of these strategic initiatives.
She is an expert at identifying operational inefficiencies and then creating and managing cash forecasts, allowing a re-engineering of the operations to take place. She has advised and worked with private and public companies in many industries including distribution, manufacturing, steel, auto, retail, energy, and chemical. Previously, Sours was the Controller for a $130 million privately held company, where she was responsible for treasury management and cash forecasting and worked extensively with outside equity investors; as well as serving as the North American Controller for a $350 million Maintenance Repair Operation distributor.
Sours holds a BBA in Accounting from Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio, as well as having obtaining her Certified Public Accountant designation from the State of Ohio, and is Certified in Financial Forensics. Sours’ professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), and the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC).
