James C. Bonvissuto, MBA, CPA

James Bonvissuto is the co-founder of Business Improvement Group and, with more than 20 years of domestic and international multi-industry experience under his belt, is a valued resource to his clients and members of the business community. He is well-versed in the areas of finance, operations, sales and marketing, banking, restructuring debt, refinancing credit facilities, and private placements.

Bonvissuto has significant experience acting in four key roles: turnaround consultant, receiver, refinancing expert, and forensic accountant. He is frequently engaged by shareholders and banks to help companies redefine their business models and create strategies that improve cash flow and profits. When the sale or liquidation of a business is inevitable or preferred, Bonvissuto works to obtain the maximum value possible for the business and/or the available assets. In addition, his solid standing in the business community allows him to find alternative sources of financing for his clients. Finally, in the role of forensic accountant, Bonvissuto has worked with businesses, banks, and even government agencies to recoup money stolen in an embezzlement scheme.

Bonvissuto has a proven track record in rapidly improving cash flows and profits by focusing on working capital utilization, efficient asset utilization, and customer, market, and product segmentation. He was a lead member of a management team that transformed an international business that was losing $2 million a month into one making $38 million annually in pure profit. This organization was also generating $37 million in free cash flow. Bonvissuto has also run several companies as court appointed receiver. His significant contributions have helped organizations to reduce debt and internally fund growth initiatives. On the operations side, Bonvissuto has led organizations through warehouse / distribution network rationalization, vendor rationalization, outsourcing of non-core production activities, warehouse automation, bar code scanning, lean manufacturing, consolidation of freight carriers, and improvements in purchasing processes to reduce inventory and improve customer service levels, as well as assisting with the integration of mergers and acquisitions.

His past experience includes having been the CFO, COO, and Court Appointed Receiver for a variety of multi-million dollar international companies. Bonvissuto has completed acquisitions, divestitures, and liquidations around the world, and has worked extensively with both the Private and Public Company sectors.

His education includes a BBA degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University, a Masters in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College, and his CPA designation from the State of Ohio. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
